The great beautiful state of Alabama is
known for quite a number of things, and one
of those things is the rich heritage of
gospel singers, songwriters and gospel
groups that have attained national attention
and popularity over the years. Four
part harmony and sacred harp music was
basically started in Alabama. Today,
it still produces fine gospel singers and
gospel groups and especially quartets. |

|
One of these fine quartets are the Joymen
Quartet from Huntsville, Alabama and they
formed in 1969. Down through the
years, they have had a few personnel changes
and some of their former members have passed
on and went home to be with the Lord.
But when someone needed to be replaced, God
always supplied the right individual to step
in and fill their shoes.
The Joymen Quartet have from their very
beginning down to the present day, presented
top notch four part harmony backed by a full
band which is a "rarity" these days in
Southern Gospel Music! Their
popularity over the years has allowed them
to travel and win loyal fans and audiences
and they have won the approval of numerous
Pastors and Promoters in various states,
that include not only their home state of
Alabama, but Tennessee, Georgia,
Mississippi, Florida and Texas.
The Joymen present something for everyone,
from the youngest to the oldest.
They'll make you laugh, they will make you
cry, as they strive to do their best to get
folks' minds off of their daily problems and
struggles and to let them know Jesus loves
them and He will take care of their needs.
They also try to encourage everyone and to
help build up their faith and to let the
"lost" know that Jesus loves them and if
they would believe in Him and serve Him,
they would have an Eternal Home in Heaven!
The Joymen Quartet and Band members are the
following: Don Mitchell, a founding member
singing the high Tenor, Lynn Price sings an
exceptional Lead, Jerry Holman, a 15 year
veteran of the Joymen sings a rich Baritone
and Mark McClain sings the quality low-down
Bass part. He will thrill you and have
listeners in "awe" as he hits those low
notes. Lynn Price is also the
son-in-law of Carl Fears, so you not only
have "family" within the quartet, but
"adopted" family members as well and that is
one of the reasons that the Joymen have that
perfect harmony and musical blend!!
Jerry Holman also serves as Quartet Manager
and does an exceptional job!
The Joymen Quartet Band is made up of:
Brandon Mitchell, son of Don Mitchell
playing Drums, Dale Wardell on Bass Guitar
and Carl Fears, original founding member
playing Piano. His Mastery on the
ivories will amaze you!
The Joymen have recorded several projects
over the years and most are available for
purchase. Their latest 3 projects
"Rise Above It All", "Most Requested"
and "Favorites Through The Years" are
definite "MUST HAVES" as they would enhance
your Southern Gospel Music library
immensely!
Over the years, the Joymen Quartet from
Huntsville, Alabama have seen some Valley
times, but have also experienced the
Mountain Tops, in their quest to do the
"Calling" that God gave them and to exercise
their talents and gifts. They remain
faithful to that Calling and are dedicated
to it, here in the present day! |
